Position Title: Director of Parish Operations

Supervisor: Parish Pastor

Employment Status: Full-Time; FLSA Exempt

Hours of Work: Minimum of 40 hours/week; M-F 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1 hour lunch), additional hours as required by Parish events/operations; compensation time ("comp time") available in accordance with Parish policies and procedures.

Position Summary: The Director of Parish Operations supports the mission of Blessed Sacrament Parish by providing strategic and day-to-day leadership for administrative, human resources, facilities, communications, and financial oversight functions. This role ensures efficient stewardship of parish resources, compliance with applicable laws and diocesan guidelines, and alignment with Catholic values. As a key collaborator with the Pastor, the Director supervises staff, manages operational projects, and provides comprehensive support to ensure smooth parish functions.

Primary Duties:
• Human Resources Management
o Collaborate with the Pastor to recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and terminate staff as necessary, ensuring alignment with parish needs and Catholic principles.
o Develop, maintain, and update personnel policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, diocesan HR laws, guidelines, and the Parish's mission.
o Prepare and annually review employee job descriptions to ensure clarity, relevance, and alignment with operational goals.
o Address employee concerns through mediation, counseling, and escalation to the Pastor when needed, promoting a supportive and collaborative work culture.
o Facilitate staff development by organizing training sessions, performance coaching, and access to diocesan resources, including spiritual retreats.
o Implement Employee Improvement Plans (EIPs) for staff requiring support or corrective action.
o Stay current on HR best practices, employment laws, and diocesan recommendations through ongoing training and consultation.
o Oversee volunteer coordination, including recruitment, training, assignment, and recognition to support parish ministries and events.

• Operations and Facilities Management
o Oversee the maintenance, security, and upkeep of parish physical assets, buildings, and grounds, coordinating with the Building and Grounds Supervisor, external vendors, and contractors for repairs, renovations, and compliance with safety standards.
o Manage parish inventory, including property, equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper stewardship and accurate tracking.
o Oversee key management, access control, and security protocols to maintain confidentiality and safety.
o Coordinate with insurance providers to prepare reports, manage claims, and ensure adequate coverage for risk management.
o Lead special operational projects, such as facility upgrades, process improvements, or strategic initiatives, in collaboration with the Pastor and relevant committees.
o Act as a liaison for diocesan and external regulatory and compliance in operations, facilities, safety, and risk matters.

• Communications and Administrative Support
o Oversee parishioner data, communications, and scheduling to ensure they are mission-driven, effective, and aligned with Catholic teachings.
o Maintain the central parish calendar, coordinating events across ministries, staff, and facilities to avoid conflicts and enhance collaboration.
o Oversee the parish census, including data management, updates, deletions, and integration with online giving services.
o Assist in generating reports for planning, outreach, and operational decision-making.
o Attend and participate in key parish meetings, such as staff meetings and key parish committees, providing operational insights, resources, and financial information as needed.

• Financial Oversight
o Collaborate with the bookkeeper and Finance Council to support budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with parish goals.
o Monitor operational expenses, vendor contracts, and purchasing to promote good stewardship.
o Assist in preparing financial summaries for meetings and ensure compliance with diocesan financial policies.
o Support stewardship campaigns and financial reporting to the diocese as required.

• Personal and Professional Conduct
o Provide for personal spiritual and professional growth through reading appropriate materials, participating in training opportunities, and attending workshops as approved by the Parish.
o Maintain an atmosphere of hospitality and charity, speaking positively about the Parish and actively promoting its mission to "Facilitate an Encounter with Christ."
o Serve as a modal of Catholic values, ensuring all actions and communications reflect the teachings of the Church and support the Parish's faith-based community.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Parish Pastor to support the mission and operations of Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Competencies:
• Strong leadership in operations management, including facilities, HR, and administrative oversight.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and diocesan laws related to HR, facilities, safety, and operations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills to build a positive, collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and basic IT troubleshooting.
• Financial acumen for budgeting oversight and resource stewardship.
• Organizational skills for managing calendars, inventories, projects, and vendor relationships.
• Ability to coordinate volunteers and lead cross-functional teams.
• Deep commitment to Catholic teachings, with the capacity to integrate faith into operational decisions.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in operations, HR, and/or administrative management.
• Previous experience working in a church, non-profit, or faith-based setting preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and a commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
