Job Description

The Diocese of Trenton is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the Department of Catholic Schools, a dynamic, diverse Catholic team dedicated to educating young women and men to realize their full potential through a program where Gospel values are lived in our schools and a commitment to student success is critical.

Salary Range: $74,500 - $93,000 - $112,000, Salary offered will be commensurate with experience

Position Summary: To work at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development & Alignment
o Develops, implements, and evaluates diocesan curriculum standards aligned with Catholic teaching and state requirements.
• Assessment & Testing Oversight
o Oversees standardized testing programs, data analysis, and instructional improvement planning.
• School Academic Visits
o Conducts regular school visits to support instructional quality, curriculum implementation, and academic leadership.
• Curriculum Advisory Committee
o Facilitates meetings and initiatives to ensure collaborative academic decision-making.
• Lumen Gentium Initiative
o Leads implementation of diocesan academic initiatives connected to Catholic intellectual tradition and mission integration.
• Instructional Technology Integration
o Guides strategic use of instructional technology to support curriculum delivery and academic innovation.
• Teacher Observations for Curriculum Verification
o Conducts classroom visits to ensure fidelity to diocesan curriculum standards.
• Eduscape Oversight
o Manages academic data systems and reporting tools to monitor instructional effectiveness and compliance.

Key Skills/Attributes:

Maintains current knowledge of educational research, instructional strategies, and emerging best practices in Catholic and nonpublic education. Willingness to participate in professional conferences, diocesan and national networks (e.g., NCEA), and continuing education to ensure the diocesan curriculum and instructional leadership remain responsive to evolving academic standards and educational innovation.

Educational Requirements:
• Masters degree required, Doctoral degree preferred
• New Jersey Supervisory Certificate - minimum
• 3-5 years of experience in a school administrative setting preferred

Other:
A background and fingerprint report will be conducted and submitted to State authorities as required by law for all personnel working within a school environment. Candidate must be willing to undergo VIRTUS certification
