Job Description
St. Peter is seeking a full-time Youth Director to develop and grow our parish's youth ministry program.About the Role
The Youth Director will be responsible for building a youth program for a diverse group of young people who attend our downtown Cathedral parish. He or she will foster the faith development of middle and high school students, coordinating youth programs and retreats, supporting sacramental preparation, and engaging young people in the life of the parish and broader Church. This position is full-time with benefits.
Responsibilities
Build and promote an annual schedule of events which will attract the youth of the parish and be of service to them and their families, keeping in mind that promotion will need to be bilingual (English and Spanish). Ministry will be in English.
Plan, organize, and lead regular youth group gatherings, retreats, service projects, and social events.
Collaborate with the Pastor, parish staff, parents, and volunteers to nurture the faith of youth.
Assist with Confirmation preparation and other sacramental programs as needed.
Provide mentorship, spiritual guidance, and faith formation opportunities.
Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers for youth ministry activities.
Incorporate Catholic teaching, tradition, and prayer into all aspects of programming.
Promote youth involvement in parish and diocesan activities.
Qualifications
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church with a deep commitment to the teachings of the Church.
A desire and vision to build a program from the ground up.
Aptitude in Spanish helpful, not required. A willingness to engage and promote events to parents and families who primarily speak Spanish is required.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and families.
Energy, creativity, and enthusiasm for engaging young people in their Catholic faith.
Compensation
Salary: $48,000 - $52,000/year (commensurate with experience)
