Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:This employee will be a key member of the clothing team, which is tasked with sorting, hanging, packing and redistributing donated clothing, linens and accessories for our National Thrift Store in Fairview Heights Illinois.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Check items for quality and resale-ability: style, wear, and cleanliness (no rips, stains, missing buttons, or loose threads)
• Maintain production quotas in one of several workstations, including:
o Hang clothing on hangers.
o Pack seasonal items away in gaylords.
o Price clothing, linens and/or accessories for resale
• Knowledgeable about fashions, fabrics, styles, and brand names or able to learn after training
• Perform any tasks needed to keep work area neat and orderly/restock production supplies as needed
• Able to work cooperatively in a team setting
• Knowledgeable about items belonging to the Misc department and their resale value and quality
• Flexible with job changes, willing and able to do other tasks when requested
• Capable of making speedy and accurate judgments of misc. items based on quality control information received during training or current needs of the stores
• Help maintain cleanliness of Processing Center, perform assigned cleaning duties
• Support the effort to create a more inclusive workplace environment

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/QUALIFICATIONS:
The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job:
• Employees must have the ability to maintain professional, patient, and courteous interactions with a diverse base of customers, donors, clients and other SVdP staff.
• Employees must frequently stand, walk, talk, and hear, and use hands to handle or touch products, tools, or controls.
• Stand at the workstation for 3 hours between breaks for 8-hour shifts.
• Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift/move up to 50lbs with assistance from equipment or another person.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties
• Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably
