Third Grade Teacher

Full-Time Faculty Position
Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Reports to: Head of Lower School / Academic Dean

Position Overview

The Third Grade Teacher will lead a self-contained classroom, teaching core subjects including Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The ideal candidate brings warmth, structure, and enthusiasm to the classroom and embraces the joyful formation of children at a pivotal stage in their intellectual and moral development.
Faculty at Stella Maris collaborate across grade levels, engage closely with families, participate fully in school life, and help build a culture of excellence, joy, and virtue.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or related field required
-Master's degree in Education or related field preferred
-Prior elementary teaching experience (2+ years) strongly desired
-Connecticut Elementary Certification preferred
-Passion for Catholic education and comfort teaching in an environment that integrates faith, reason, and virtue
-Strong classroom management skills rooted in consistency and care
-Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to partner with families
-Commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement of curriculum and instruction

Duties & Responsibilities

-Instruction & Learning
-Plan, teach, and assess all core third-grade subjects aligned with school standards and classical pedagogy
-Deliver engaging lessons that foster literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, curiosity, and a love of learning
-Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
-Create a structured, orderly, and joyful classroom environment
-Prepare students for academic presentations, exhibitions of learning, and standardized assessments as appropriate
-Build strong rapport with students, guiding them to grow in responsibility, initiative, and virtue
-Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom life
-Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the Lower School program and overall Stella Maris curriculum
-Participate in school events, faculty meetings, formation opportunities, and professional development
