Job Description
Job Title: Part-Time Sales ManagerLocation: Remote. Milwaukee or Philadelphia advantage
Job Type: Part-Time
About Us: Wiseblood Books is a small but passionate Catholic publisher dedicated to offering a diverse range of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry that reflects our core vision and enriches the lives of our readers. Wiseblood Books fosters works of fiction, poetry, and philosophy that wrestle us from the ruse of distraction; find redemption in uncanny places and people; articulate faith and doubt in their incarnate complexity; dare an unflinching gaze at human beings as "political animals"; and render well this world's sufferings without forfeiting hope-all of this with an unflinching gaze, wide-eyed. We are seeking a motivated Sales Manager to help us increase our sales. As this is the first time we have brought a Salesperson aboard, we seek a self-motived person with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Position Overview: As a Sales and Marketing Representative, you will be instrumental in promoting our titles to bookstores, libraries, churches, and other retail outlets. You will work closely with our team to develop effective marketing strategies that resonate with our target audience and reflect our mission as a Catholic publisher.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Outreach:
-Your fundamental responsibility is to do justice to the Wiseblood catalogue by increasing sales across the board. In collaboration with Wiseblood staff, the Sales Manager will analyze data in order to achieve our annual sales goals, and develop a plan by which we reach that goal incrementally, each year, for the next five years. You will bring a vision and strategies by which we can achieve this end.
-Build and maintain relationships with independent and big box bookstores, Catholic retailers, libraries, and community organizations.
-Increase bulk orders.
Conduct outreach and follow-up communications via phone, email, and in-person visits to promote our titles and secure orders.
Marketing Support:
-Collaborate with the editorial team to develop and execute promotional campaigns for new releases and established works.
Market Analysis:
-Collaborate with Wiseblood staff to research market trends and provide insights into the preferences of American readers of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction across numerous demographics.
-Collaborate with Wiseblood staff to track sales performance and customer feedback to inform future marketing and sales strategies.
Customer Service:
-Provide exceptional customer service to build lasting relationships with clients and readers.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent; a background in marketing, communications, or a related field is a plus.
-Previous experience in sales, marketing, or book publishing (ideally at least 2-5 years) is required, though we are open to making an exception for the standout candidate.
-Strong love of, knowledge of, and understanding of the Catholic tradition and literature are strongly preferred.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a personable and engaging demeanor.
-Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using social media platforms and basic design tools.
-Ability to manage a large client base across a wide geographic territory.
-Consistent achievement of sales quotas.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
-Ability to work on computer for extended periods of time
-Ability to listen and speak carefully while interacting with others
-Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally
What We Offer:
-Flexible part-time hours that can accommodate your schedule.
-Competitive salary with potential for performance-based incentives.
-A collaborative and supportive work environment that values creativity and passion for literature.
-Opportunities to engage with the local community and contribute to meaningful projects.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their resume and a brief cover letter (in PDF form) that explains their interest in the position and outlines relevant experience to editors@wisebloodbooks.com.
