Job Description

The Production Assistant is a vital member of the publishing team, working closely with the Director of Production to bring high-quality books and resources from manuscript to finished product. Serving as a central hub between internal teams and external partners, this role plays a hands-on part in shaping publications, refining processes, and ensuring excellence at every stage of production. From collaborating with printers to enhancing interior design and tracking projects through completion, the Production Assistant helps turn ideas into beautifully produced, mission-driven resources.

**This role is a hybrid position with 3 days in our Nashua, New Hampshire office and 2 days remote.**

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Acting as a primary point of contact between internal departments and production partners
- Preparing manuscripts and image files for typesetters and printers
- Managing and maintaining production databases and project records
- Reviewing proofs with a sharp editorial eye and coordinating corrections
- Sourcing, commissioning, and enhancing interior artwork
- Producing back covers and coordinating book covers
- Tracking inventory levels and managing reprint workflows
- Leading the development and production of non-book products
- Maintaining and updating PDFs and production files as revisions are made

Desired Skills and Qualities:
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects independently
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and initiative
- An exceptional eye for quality and accuracy, especially in proof review
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
- Comfort working in Excel and Google Sheets to track projects and data
- Clear, professional communication skills for working across teams and with vendors
