St. Paul of the Cross Parish, Pittsburgh PADIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION
JOB SUMMARY
St. Paul of the Cross Parish is seeking a part/full-time Director of Faith Formation. The Director, working under the direction of the Pastor and Pastoral Associate, will design and implement catechetical and formation programs for children and families with children in grades K-8. The Director of Faith Formation will recruit, train, develop and oversee catechists and support staff. The Director of Faith Formation is able to articulate Catholic Theology in light of the teachings of the Church as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and ensures that all programs are aligned with diocesan guidelines. Regular weekday hours in addition to weekend and evening presence in the parish will be required.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Faith Formation: Develop a Catechetical program for Grades K-8 to include:
Curriculum development
Recruitment and formation of catechists
Sacramental Preparation for children/families in grades 2 and 8
Seasonal family formation opportunities during Lent, Easter, Advent, Christmas
Planning and implementation of Summer Vacation Bible School
Managing communication and scheduling including the annual catechetical calendar, including retreats, rehearsals, and liturgical celebrations
Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and sacramental certificates
Building consensus among diverse parish cultures and staff personalities
Ensuring all volunteers meet "Safe Environment" requirements (background checks and training) as mandated by the Diocese
Attending diocesan faith formation meetings and ensure parish compliance with diocesan policies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Bachelor's degree in Catholic theological studies, religious education or equivalent.
Minimum of three years parish ministry experience.
Must be able to fully comply with the Diocese of Pittsburgh Safe Environment Policies.
