Job Description

Position Overview
St. John's College High School, a Catholic high school in the Lasallian tradition, seeks a Long-Term Substitute Religion Teacher to support the academic and spiritual formation of our students. The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission of Lasallian education and capable of teaching a range of Religion courses.
The long-term substitute will be responsible for delivering instruction, assessing student learning, and contributing positively to the life of the school community during the duration of the assignment.
Courses May Include
• Introduction to Sacred Scripture
• The New Testament and Church History
• Morality and Social Justice
• Systematic Theology and World Religions
Primary Responsibilities
• Teach assigned Religion courses in alignment with Archdiocesan curriculum standards.
• Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and faith development.
• Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain a classroom environment that supports academic excellence, respect, and spiritual growth.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues as needed.
• Follow school policies and procedures, including grading, attendance, and classroom management expectations.
• Participate in school liturgies, prayer experiences, and faith-based activities. This teaching position works closely with our Mission & Ministry department to support spiritual formation to the student body.
Required Qualifications
• Practicing Catholic
• Major or minor in Theology and/or Religious Studies
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience teaching Religion at the middle or high school level
• Familiarity with Catholic secondary school curriculum
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
• Willingness to participate in formation towards a better understanding of the Lasallian charism and mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
Terms of Employment
This is a long-term substitute position with the potential to be hired the following school year full-time. Compensation and benefits will be aligned with Archdiocesan guidelines and the length of the assignment.
