Middle & High School Science TeacherSt. Andrew Catholic School - Helena, Montana
St. Andrew Catholic School, an independent Catholic classical school serving 240 Pre-K through 12th grade students, is seeking a Middle and High School Science Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming academic year.
Located in Helena, Montana, St. Andrew School educates students in a Catholic classical tradition, forming young people in the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty while cultivating academic excellence and virtuous character.
We are seeking a teacher who loves both science and the formation of young people, and who desires to teach within a faith-filled, mission-driven academic community.
Position Overview
The Science Teacher will teach a variety of middle and high school science courses. High school courses include:
• Earth Science
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
The teacher will help students develop both scientific understanding and intellectual wonder about the created world, integrating sound scientific instruction with the school's Catholic and classical educational philosophy.
Responsibilities
• Teach science courses for middle and high school, including specifically the high school science courses listed above
• Prepare engaging lessons that emphasize scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and clear reasoning
• Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, curiosity, and academic rigor
• Assess student learning through assignments, labs, and examinations
• Collaborate with fellow faculty to support the classical curriculum
• Maintain timely communication with parents regarding student progress
• Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and the life of the school community
• Model virtuous character and support the spiritual formation of students
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field
• Montana Class 2 Educator License with a Science endorsement (Broadfield Science preferred), or the ability to obtain Montana licensure
• Teaching experience at the middle or high school level
• Strong content knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science
• Ability to teach multiple science disciplines across grades 6-12
• Interest in or experience with classical education
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• A commitment to forming students intellectually, morally, and spiritually
Candidates should also:
• Demonstrate an appreciation for the Catholic intellectual tradition and the classical liberal arts
• Be willing to integrate faith and reason in the study of the natural sciences, helping students see the created world as intelligible and ordered
Candidates must successfully complete required background checks and safe environment training.
Compensation
Salary: Beginning at $28,000 but dependent on education and years of experience but may be more.
