Program Director

Job Description

The Program Director will serve as the only salaried member of our all-volunteer organization and is responsible for envisioning, developing, and implementing Discovery's retreats, workshops, and educational offerings, working collaboratively with our Founder and Spiritual Director, Monsignor Michael Mannion, ministry volunteers and our Board of Trustees. The Program Director will ensure that all programming reflects the mission and identity of Discovery Ministries. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating on-site, virtual, and off-site programs for audiences of all ages; developing relationships with parishes, diocesan offices, and local organizations; coordinating program logistics with hospitality and administrative staff; and overseeing evaluation processes to maintain quality and relevance. The Program Director also assists with budgeting and record- keeping related to programming, contributes to marketing through digital media and community networks, and offers spiritual and theological support to staff, volunteers, and participants. Representing Discovery Ministries at diocesan and community events is also part of the role, along with other duties as assigned. The position may include supervisory oversight of program staff, contract facilitators, and volunteers.

Discovery Ministries, Inc. is a Catholic ministry which operates a private retreat house in Hammonton, New Jersey, which was founded in 1974. Since then over 40,000 youth, young adults, and family members have participated in spiritual retreats. We provide social, recreational, and spiritual opportunities for families with chronically ill children, handicapped children, or special needs children. Discovery House thus serves as a "home away from home" for families who deserve our special care and attention and who honor us with their presence.
