The Role:
Full-time Faculty Members further the mission of the school by investing in its most foundational component: the formation of young people in the intellectual, spiritual, and communal heritage of the classical liberal arts tradition and the Catholic Church. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Principal. The Full-Time Faculty Member serves as the primary agent of the intellectual and human formation of students, of the communication of the mission and vision of the school to families, and of school culture and discipleship in Jesus Christ.
Candidate Profile & Responsibilities:
A full-time faculty member must be a Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, who assents to the Church's teachings on all matters, with particular care for those concerning the nature of the human person, sexual ethics and sexual identity. The candidate shall possess a zeal for the Lord, living the faith in all aspects of life, with an ability to interact comfortably and authoritatively with students in a variety of settings and with collegiality with other JPG faculty and staff.
This is a full-time position requiring a consistent commitment from 7:30 am-3:30 pm ("the school day") when school is in session. Faculty members will be required to attend key community events (such as Open House, graduations, etc.).
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree required in field pertinent to the teaching course load.
-A minimum of 3 years of measurable professional teaching experience. An advanced degree may be an appropriate substitute for relevant teaching experience.
-Strong skills related to classroom management, lesson and unit planning, curriculum development, and instruction
-Competency in organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication
-An engaging classroom presence that invites students to experience wonder, engage in discussion, and encounter the truth through discussion, inquiry, and excellent direct instruction.
-A familiarity with pedagogy and classroom practice grounded in the classical liberal arts tradition, or a strong willingness to learn
-A desire to encounter students as persons, to invest in their growth and development in and out of the classroom, and to provide a compelling witness of joyful discipleship at all times.
-A willingness to contribute to the continued growth and development of JPG retreats, clubs, programs, traditions, and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Ability to teach sections of mathematics from Algebra to Advanced Calculus and contribute to the internal substitute structure.
-Contribute 12-15 hours/week over the summer break to curriculum development, scope and sequence design, lesson planning, and preparation for thorough and engaging instruction
-Deliver compelling and robust instruction in the given discipline, drawing consistently upon tenets of classical liberal arts pedagogy.
-Conduct class time with high expectations of student participation, behavior, and quality of work.
-Maintain: organized materials; complete course overviews, unit plans, and daily lesson plans for each class; current and complete records of student work; up-to-date information about class assignments in FACTS, and timely communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
-Contribute to a robust faculty culture through active participation in faculty/staff meetings, professional development, applicable opportunities for further formation in the area of curricular focus and classical liberal arts pedagogy.
-Build strong relationships with students that encourage students to strive for academic excellence, deepen their relationship with Christ, discern the presence of Christ in all things, and grow in virtue.
-Demonstrate a desire to integrate the Catholic faith into all areas of content, instruction, and in relationships with students.
-Witness to one's relationship with Jesus Christ through participation in Convocation, Formation Fridays, Works of Mercy Days, and other formation opportunities as needed. -Participate in JPG co-curriculars, athletics, school functions, and events, as vocation and family life allow.
