Established in 1906, Sacred Heart Cathedral School is a close-knit parochial (private Catholic) school in the beautiful and historic East Hill neighborhood of Pensacola, FL. Our ideal CGS Teacher will be a faith-filled and joyful individual who genuinely loves the children and their families. This person will bring an enthusiastic and reverent presence to the Atrium, communicating effectively and collaborating with fellow faculty. Students look to their teachers as role models, so the CGS Teacher must be a virtuous and faithful individual. Our school holds high standards for discipline and spiritual formation, and our teacher will effectively nurture students in these areas of virtue.
Our ideal teacher will be versed in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd methodology to invite students into a deeper relationship with God. Some of our students have special learning needs, so experience making accommodations for exceptional learners is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
• Inspire students to live joyful and faith-filled lives through CGS Atrium work and modeling virtue.
• Prepare and maintain the atrium environment in accordance with CGS principles.
• Collaborate with elementary teachers, catechists, and specials faculty to support integrated faith formation.
• Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly Atrium and follow all school procedures as directed.
• Communicate in a friendly and positive manner with parents and students and foster a culture of trust and collaboration.
• Serve as a role model of faith and virtue for SHCS students.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Ensure the safety of students at all times.
Schedule & Availability
• Part-time availability at school for Instructional/Atrium time, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday-Thursday. Start and end dates for CGS determined with the principal, based on school calendar. No more than 170 CGS days each year.
• Up to 10 sick/personal leave days per year.
Qualifications
• Required: CGS Certified Teacher
• At least a bachelor's degree (BA, BS, or higher) from an accredited college or university.
• Previous elementary or faith formation experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others.
• Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required.
• Ability to pass a background check and complete all diocesan safe environment courses.
• Be a role model and living example of the Catholic faith for the students in your atrium.
Compensation
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour, commensurate with CGS certification level and experience
