Job Title: Part-Time Church Custodian
Location: Our Lady of the Gulf
Reports To: Pastor
Hours: Up to 12 per week
Schedule: TBD
Job Summary:
Our Lady of the Gulf is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our parish community. The custodian will be responsible for the upkeep of the church, parish hall, restrooms, and other facilities, ensuring that they are well-maintained for worship services, events, and daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine cleaning of the church, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Clean and restock restrooms regularly.
• Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facility.
• Set up and break down chairs, tables, and other equipment for events, meetings, and services.
• Ensure that entryways and common areas remain neat and accessible.
• Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs.
• Monitor and report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Assist with seasonal cleaning tasks, such as deep cleaning before major liturgical celebrations.
• Secure the building by locking doors and turning off lights as needed.
• Complete monthly Fire equipment checks.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Dependability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
• Respect for the church's mission and an understanding of working in a faith-based environment.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings for special events.
