Director of Youth Faith Formation and Youth Ministry

Job Description

Resurrection Catholic Church is seeking to hire a Christ-centered, passionate, spiritually mature Director of Youth Faith Formation and Youth Ministry for the Middle School and High School members of our parish. We are dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and social growth of our young members as true disciples of Jesus Christ. As Director of Youth Faith Formation and Youth Minister, you have the pivotal role of guiding, mentoring, and inspiring our middle and high school students through their formative young adult years. We are seeking an individual who can connect with our youth and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the Faith Formation Program for middle and high school age youth, establishing a robust curriculum and ensuring volunteer catechists are identified for each grade level.
• Work with the Director of Elementary Faith Formation to provide a Family Faith Formation program via Sunday sessions.
• Communicate and coordinate with the Director of Elementary Faith Formation to support continuity in the two programs
• Coordinate with the Diocese of Joliet to ensure our youth fulfill requirements to receive the sacrament of Confirmation and that a date for the celebration is secured.
• Develop and present an annual Confirmation Retreat, with assistance from recruited volunteers.
• Guide and mentor our young people preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation.
• Collaborate with other church staff and ministries to integrate youth activities into larger church community.
• Develop and lead monthly youth group meetings to include social events, service projects and church activities.
• Coordinate youth attendance at retreats, mission trips, and special events.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for youth programs.
• Provide pastoral care and counseling to youth and their families.
• Help create and manage youth faith formation and youth ministry budgets with help from the Business Manager.
• Communicate regularly with parents and keep them informed of upcoming events/activities.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in theology, religious studies, or a related field.
• Experience working with youth and young adults in a church or related setting.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend activities. Roughly 22-29 hours per week.
• Strong personal faith and understand of Catholic teachings.
• Ability to communicate, mentor and build relationships with youth and parents.
• Proven leadership and organizational abilities.
• Proficient in using technology and social media to engage youth.

Compensation & Benefits
• The salary range is $34,000-36,000 annual, commensurate with education and experience.
• The employee will be offered paid personal leave and vacation days.
