Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Catholic development professional to help grow our organization's donor base and expand support for our mission in the Tampa Bay area.

We are particularly interested in someone who brings both significant professional fundraising experience and a deeply lived Catholic faith. The ideal candidate understands Catholic faith and culture from personal experience and can authentically engage practicing Catholics in conversations about faith, stewardship, charitable giving, service, and our mission.

This is a relationship-driven fundraising position. The successful candidate will be comfortable building genuine, long-term relationships with donors and prospective donors and, when appropriate, confidently making the direct ask for financial support.

The Professional Solicitor will help develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy; cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors; identify major-gift opportunities; and introduce our mission to individuals, families, parishes, Catholic organizations, foundations, and other potential supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Development & Major Gifts:
Develop and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships with current and prospective donors.
Identify individuals and families who may have an interest in supporting our mission.
Cultivate relationships with major and prospective major donors.
Meet personally with donors and prospective donors to understand their interests, charitable priorities, and connection to our mission.
Develop individualized strategies for engaging and cultivating prospective donors.
Make direct fundraising solicitations and confidently ask for financial support when appropriate.
Encourage existing donors to deepen their involvement and financial support over time.
Maintain regular communication with donors beyond the initial solicitation.

Catholic Community Engagement:
Develop relationships throughout the Catholic community, including individuals, families, parishes, Catholic schools, ministries, organizations, and other Catholic institutions.
Build relationships with parish leaders, clergy, ministry leaders, Catholic business owners, and other community influencers where appropriate.
Help organize and participate in parish visits, presentations, donor events, informational gatherings, and other outreach opportunities.
Communicate the organization's mission in a manner that is authentically Catholic and appropriate for practicing Catholics.
Understand and effectively communicate the importance of faith, stewardship, charitable giving, service, and vocation within Catholic life.
Develop fundraising initiatives that resonate with Catholic donors while remaining faithful to the organization's mission and values.

Fundraising Strategy & Administration:
Work with organizational leadership to establish fundraising priorities and opportunities.
Develop meaningful ways to demonstrate the impact of donor support.
Assist with planning and executing donor events, fundraising events, informational presentations, and community outreach activities.
Effectively utilize the organization's donor management/CRM system, Network for Good.
Track fundraising activity and provide regular reports to organizational leadership.
Monitor fundraising results and make recommendations based on fundraising data and donor trends.
Qualifications
Demonstrated professional fundraising/development experience.
Proven ability to cultivate and maintain meaningful donor relationships.
Experience personally soliciting charitable gifts, including major gifts.
Strong understanding of Catholic faith and culture, with the ability to authentically engage practicing Catholics.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to speak comfortably and confidently with individuals about charitable giving and the organization's mission.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take initiative.
Professional judgment, discretion, and integrity when working with donors and confidential information.
A genuine commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

Compensation:
$35,000-$45,000 annual retainer, plus 5% of contributions secured.

This is an independent contractor position. The contractor will be responsible for all applicable taxes, home office expenses, vehicle expenses, and other costs associated with performing the role. Reimbursement for approved meals, donor meetings, and other donor-related activities will be provided with prior management approval.

Contract will reflect all requirements set forth by Florida Solicitation of Contributions Act (Chapter 496) for independent contractors receiving a commission for secured donations. This includes all reporting and fees required by FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services).

Retainer will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated fundraising experience.
