Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:We are looking for someone who has a strong catholic faith and wants to share that faith with the families of our parish.
Develop & oversee the Religious Education curriculum for grades 1 through 8. Classes held twice per week, Tuesday & Sunday.
Use PDS (Formation) to enroll, update & keep track of new and existing families, students and fees.
Provide materials needed for classroom lessons.
Develop & organize Advent & Lenten Retreats & Advent /Lenten Penance services as well as Christmas & Easter Breakfasts.
Annually prepare, the sacramental preparation for children receiving First Reconciliation and First Eucharist including parental involvement.
Develop and provide 2 retreats for 2nd graders. One Reconciliation retreat held in the winter and one Eucharist Retreat held in the spring.
Set and organize First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion dates plus rehearsals.
Schedule, prepare and attend evening parent and catechist meetings.
Develop and continue recruitment for the curriculum of Children's Liturgy of the Word.
Develop the parish OCIA curriculum and continue to build a core team.
Continue to support and be responsible for all administrative aspects of OCIA.
Attend CLA meetings or other workshops offered whenever possible to continually keep current with new diocesan policies and personal job growth.
Develop yearly budget for the Religious Education department. Monitor all income and expenses.
Communicate with pastor and attend staff meetings regularly.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Offer assistance and training to Catechists.
Develop opportunities for Catechists to further motivate and educate for their professional growth.
Recruit new Catechists
Tutor home-study students unable to attend regularly scheduled classes.
Work with Confirmation age kids to "bridge-the-gap" of missed years.
Work closely with Youth Minister to organize and maintain service hours/youth activities for all students.
Consistently update the weekly bulletin column, bulletin articles.
Send out all letters, emails, and communications to all families regarding their children who are involved with the program.
Order and inventory all materials needed for above said programs.
Develop/continue monthly Religious Ed Outreach.
