Job Description
St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a position inMoral Theology for the School of Theology/Seminary program, beginning in the fall semester of
2027. Whover assumes this position will be responsible for graduate-level, seminary teaching in
all areas of moral theology, and possibly in other areas, depending on the institution's needs and
the candidate's ability. In particular, the candidate who fills this position will be immediately
responsible for teaching "Medical Ethics," "Catholic Social Ethics," and "Sexuality, Celibacy,
and Marriage."
The ideal candidate for this position is a Catholic priest with a terminal ecclesiastical degree in
the field, but lay candidates are also encouraged to apply. Those without an ecclesiastical degree
will be expected to pursue one. Anyone hired for this position must be a Catholic in good
standing with the Church who is able to make the Profession of Faith and the Oath of Fidelity.
The standard teaching load for priest faculty is 2/2 plus formation work, while the standard
teaching load for lay faculty is 2/3. Additional teaching results in additional compensation.
Rank is open and commensurate with prior achievement.
