Job Description
St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a faculty position in Sacred Scripture for the School of Theology/Seminary program, beginning in the fall semester of 2027. Whoever assumes this position will be responsible for graduate-level, seminary teaching in all areas of Sacred Scripture, but primarily in the New Testament. Candidates with training in Patristic exegesis would be of particular interest.The ideal candidate for this position is a Catholic priest with a terminal ecclesiastical degree in the field, but lay candidates are also encouraged to apply. Those without an ecclesiastical degree will be expected to pursue one. Anyone hired for this position must be a Catholic in good standing with the Church who is able to make the Profession of Faith and the Oath of Fidelity.
The standard teaching load for priest faculty is 2/2 plus formation work, while the standard teaching load for lay faculty is 2/3. Additional teaching results in additional compensation.
