Lead Catechist

Job Description

Job Summary
The Lead Catechist is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students during the Compostela Program. This role involves supervising children, leading Faith Formation lessons and prayers, assisting with educational and recreational activities, supporting social-emotional development, and ensuring student safety while promoting positive behavior.

Key Responsibilities
-Supervise and ensure the safety of students during program hours
-Lead students in prayer experiences and Faith Formation lessons provided by the Catechetical Coordinator
-Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate academic, enrichment, and recreational activities
-Provide homework assistance and academic support as needed
-Foster positive social interaction and encourage respectful behavior
-Maintain consistent routines and enforce program rules and expectations
-Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
-Communicate effectively with the Director, Compostela staff and parents regarding student progress or concerns
-Prepare materials and set up/clean up activity spaces daily
-Monitor attendance and complete required documentation
-Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety procedures
-Refrain from personal device usage-including cell phones and laptops-during Compostela work hours
-Adhere to Compostela dress code

Work Schedule
-Part-time (19.5 hours a week)
-Monday-Thursday from 2:00pm-5:45pm and
Fridays from 12:00pm to 5:45pm
-Schedule may vary based on school calendar and program needs
