Job Description

The Director of Leadership Development serves as a key member of the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) leadership team,
responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development programs that strengthen the capacity of non-teaching
leaders and staff in Catholic Schools across the Archdiocese of Boston. This position builds pathways for leadership growth, ensures alignment with the mission of Catholic education, and cultivates effective school leadership rooted in Catholic identity, academic excellence, and operational best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership Development & Training
Design, coordinate, and deliver leadership development initiatives for principals, heads of school, assistant principals, business managers, admissions/advancement staff, and other non-teaching leadership roles.
Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training series on topics such as Catholic mission-driven leadership, strategic planning, financial management, enrollment growth, and human resources.
Create and implement mentoring and coaching programs for new and emerging school leaders.
Partner with universities, leadership institutes, and Catholic professional organizations to build leadership pipelines for future principals and administrators.

Program Design & Evaluation
Assess leadership needs across the archdiocese to inform program design.
Create leadership competencies and standards for non-teaching roles that align with Catholic mission and strategic priorities.
Regularly evaluate leadership development programs to measure impact, relevance, and effectiveness.
Collaboration & Support
Serve as a resource to pastors, school boards, and principals regarding effective leadership practices.
Collaborate with CSO directors (finance, academics, enrollment, mission) to ensure leadership development supports cross-functional school success.
Support succession planning by identifying and preparing high- potential leaders for future roles.

Mission & Catholic Identity
Ensure all leadership development initiatives are grounded in the mission of Catholic education and the values of the Catholic Church.

Other Duties
Represent the Catholic Schools Office at Archdiocesan events related to Catholic school leadership.
Stay current on national trends and research in Catholic and independent school leadership development.
Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Practicing Catholic with a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Master's degree required
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in Catholic schools, higher education, or nonprofit leadership development.
Demonstrated success in designing and delivering professional development programs for leaders.
Strong knowledge of school governance, strategic planning, finance, advancement, and operations.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Proven organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Ability to inspire, mentor, and coach leaders at different stages of their careers.

Physical Performance Elements
The position requires the ability to sit, operate a keyboard, speak, lift 20 lbs., bend, stoop, stand, and reach.
