Job Description

Title: Communication Coordinator
Reports To: Pastor
Parishes: St. Liborius Catholic Parish, Steger, IL and
Saint Boniface Catholic Church, Monee, IL
Position Schedule: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Benefit Ineligible
Monday-Thursday: Flexible as required. Work from home eligible.
Friday: Off
***(10-15 hours per week with a maximum of 15 hours except when organizing a bulk mailing.)
Effective Date: July 1, 2025

JOB SUMMARY
The Communication Coordinator is responsible for graphic design, editing website content, developing the parish bulletin, and creating social media posts to respond to the needs of parish. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the target audience is critical. This position is responsible to work with all St. Liborius Catholic Parish/St. Boniface Catholic Church parish staff, committees, commissions, parish organizations, parishioners, Diocesan officials, and outside contributors to prepare timely, informative, and balanced publicity for greater parish, Diocesan, and community events. This position is responsible for parish wide and external communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the Parish Administrative Assistant and school staff for the collection, layout, design, and final production of weekly bulletin.
• Design and update Parish website.
• Ensure information on website is current and accurate (articles, links, events) The web editor must prepare pieces for publication by checking grammar, punctuation, and style to improve clarity and flow.
• Upload events and post to Parish social media accounts encouraging engagement.
• Monthly or as needed design and post Flocknote email blasts.
• Design and execute parish design posters.
• Coordinate Parish Mailings.
o Run searches on the computer for special mailings.
o Organize team to attach labels and mail to parishioners.
• Support parish ministries with the design of print materials including, but not limited to, brochures, fliers, and posters.
• Additional positional tasks related to the parish as assigned by the pastor.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Practicing Catholic who understands and supports the teachings and dogma of the Roman Catholic Church and who acts an example and serves as role model in their personal life.
• Has a sense of God's call to this ministry and carries out the ministry in humble service to the parish.
• Communicates in a professional, positive, and supportive manner at all levels.
• Displays a true Christian example of patience, compassion and understanding.
• A degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in various social media platforms.
• Must be proficient in the application of Microsoft Office including Word and Publisher.
• Proficient in Parishsoft or PDS.
• Prior experience with Flocknote or similar email services.
• Website management/design experience preferred.
• Prior experience in Catholic ministry a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in relating to and working cooperatively and collaboratively with parish members.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
• Commitment to continuous personal growth in spirituality and education.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.
• The ability to honor and maintain absolute confidentiality both within and outside of the office regarding all parish business.
• Ability to relate to the diverse universe of the parish in a positive and professional manner.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both strategic and tactical levels.
• Initiative-taker, able to work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Attend staff meetings as needed or required by Pastor.

SALARY
Salary range is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

BENEFITS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This is a part-time, non-exempt, unbenefited position.
• Working presence in the office each week as scheduled by the Pastor.
• Flexibility of remote work possible; however, claimed hours must be in accord with done as approved by Pastor.
