Job Description

The Diocese of Lansing Office of Catholic Schools is now accepting resumes for an Associate Superintendent. The role of the Associate Superintendent encompasses the following core responsibilities:

Leader of School Renewal
In the wake of a secular culture, the people of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing share a vision for Catholic schools, rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic liberal arts pedagogy.
Work to understand the ideals of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and best practices in Catholic liberals arts pedagogy.
Assist the superintendent in guiding school leaders in the implementation of these practices.
Research, direct, and facilitate curriculum development throughout the renewal of Diocese of Lansing schools.

Facilitator of the School Community of Faith
Foster interpersonal relationships in an atmosphere of Christian love.
Assist the superintendent in providing support to principals to ensure that their schools fully live out their mission for their students.
Plan and facilitate spiritual retreats for school administrators and teachers.
Oversee the catechetical formation of those who teach in the Catholic schools.
Work in collaboration with the Diocesan Director of Youth Discipleship and the Diocesan Director of Marriage and Family to promote a consistent approach to the formation of our youth and families in our Catholic schools and parishes.

Educational Leader
Display experience and enthusiasm for the teaching profession.
Direct, facilitate, and supervise professional development opportunities for school staff personnel.
Assist Superintendent in providing support with ongoing functions.
Compile data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of evaluating services, programs, and the overall efficacy of schools.
Serve as a professional resource to the schools, particularly high schools.
Administrator
Provide data informed analysis to assist schools with their budgets, enrollment strategies, and viable staffing models.
Facilitate meetings that involve a range of issues for the purpose of communicating information and developing recommendations.
Ensure compliance with the requirements from the State of Michigan, MANS, and the Diocese of Lansing.
Assist the superintendent in developing internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure that organizational objectives are achieved.
Serve as a liaison from the Catholic Schools Office to the principals; attend all principal meetings.
Guide and assist the high school principals, presidents, and their boards.
Assist with promoting and overseeing Catholic mission-focused athletic programs across the diocese.
Provide counsel and mediation as needed to pastors, principals, teachers and parents on personnel policies and practices.
Collaborate with MANS in order to ensure that their services are best applied for schools.
Facilitate and direct all aspects of the accreditation process for MNSAA.
Collaborate, as delegated and as appropriate, with all other departments in the Chancery.
Perform all other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education: Master's degree in education administration or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum three years of administration experience; experience with high school administration/teaching preferred; experience with Catholic Liberal Arts preferred.
Require: Valid driver's license. Travel required.
Physical Demands: While performing duties, employee has to sit for long periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, and answer telephone calls. The position also requires some standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
