Job Description

St. Edward Catholic Parish in Pembroke Pines, Florida is now hiring a full-time Sacramental Coordinator/Bulletin Editor. This position seeks someone that will reflect the best of the Catholic Church by offering a warm and welcoming experience to all those coming to St. Edward. Working in a parish that embraces stewardship as a way of life, this position will better assist those who are entering the parish for the first time and seeking an encounter with God, as well as existing parishioners who are renewing their commitment. Primary responsibilities include infant baptism registrations, gathering and processing of documents, and the update, maintenance, and safeguard of all sacramental recordkeeping. The role of Bulletin Editor requires creative design and strong editorial skills for the weekly publication of the bulletin. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Provides exemplary customer service to those who contact the parish office by phone or in person, assesses their needs, and directs them to the appropriate person, ensuring that all is done in a spirit of prayer and hospitality.
Records, updates, completes, organizes, and files all data related to the sacramental registry books, the sick call registry book, and the death records.
Organizes, prepares, and reviews all requests for Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.
Assembles and files records related to the Baptismal preparation classes rendered at St. Edward, as well as each family's completion of courses.
Demonstrates willingness to assist at Baptisms and coordinates the Baptism instruction.
Prepares request forms for permission to marry or receive Baptism in another parish.
Records annulment notifications in the marriage books.
Becomes familiar with the parish calendar, with special attention to the catechetical calendar.
Stays up to date on all church events and activities for the coordination of the sacraments as well as content in the bulletin.
Prepares, as needed, the Prayer of the Faithful for Sunday Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, and Holy Week.
Records and prepares Mass intention listings on a weekly basis.
Assists with covering the reception desk and answering the Parish Office phones as needed.
Prepares, develops, and edits bulletins and announcements.
Works with the pastor and other staff members to ensure the bulletin's accuracy and completion, ensuring that the bulletin is delivered in a timely and professional manner.
Coordinates the outside vendors for printing and distribution of the bulletin.
Conducts themselves in a moral and ethical manner consistent with Catholic principles.
Presents a positive, business-like image when representing St. Edward Catholic Parish.
Respects the confidentiality of information acquired in the role at St. Edward Catholic Parish.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Three (3) years' experience minimum in a customer service environment required.
Three to five years of experience in parish ministry, with in-depth knowledge of Catholicism.
Willing to take catechetical courses as needed, in readiness to complete ongoing formation.
Clear understanding of the Church's Sacramental Theology, especially regarding the Sacrament of Baptism and the Rite of Baptism.
Appropriate leadership, organizational, and facilitation skills, including willingness to implement existing programs.
Ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy in an environment that at times presents simultaneous challenges and competing priorities.
Detail-oriented, excellent writing and editing skills.
Excellent human relations and service skills including maintaining focus and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
Helpful, supportive, and cooperative attitude with openness to give and receive constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
Proficiency in computer literacy, including ability to navigate search engines effectively.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, and knowledge of MS PowerPoint. Experience in a Web-based content management system, desktop publishing, and graphic design software a plus.
Proficiency in ParishSoft Family Suite is preferred.
Experience in a Roman Catholic environment, with courses in CCP (Catechist Certificate Program) strongly preferred.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Strong oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
Good Spanish-language oral and written communication skills required.
