Job Description

St. Coleman Catholic School in Pompano Beach, Florida, has an opening for the 2026-27 school year for a qualified full-time Media Specialist. This candidate will be expected to instruct on media literacy and search for information sources to find data. The Media Specialist performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Functions and Tasks:
Work closely with teachers to design authentic learning tasks and assessments and integrate information and communication abilities required to meet content standards.
Provide leadership and expertise in acquiring and evaluating information resources in all formats.
Bring awareness of information issues into collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, students, and others.
Demonstrate strategies for locating, accessing, and evaluating information within and beyond the library media center.
Master sophisticated electronic resources while maintaining a constant focus on the nature, quality, and ethical use of information available in these and other tools.
Work collaboratively with members of the learning community to define the policies of the library media program and to guide and direct all the activities related to the program.
Advocate for the library media program in support of the school improvement plan and provide appropriate knowledge, vision, and leadership for doing so.
Manage staff, budgets, equipment and facilities, and orders materials.
Plan, execute, and evaluate the program to ensure its quality both long-term and short-term.

Qualifications:
BS / BA Degree in Library Science, Education, or related field.
Must have Teaching Certificate in Elementary education, temporary or professional.
Excellent classroom management skills.
Minimum of 2 years' experience preferred.
Must be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in Roman Catholic environment preferred.
Excellent presentation skills with use of instructional technologies.
Must have knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church.
Excellent oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
Good spelling and grammar are required.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; PowerPoint a plus.
Must have a professional demeanor.
