Job Description
Full-time Position; ExemptReports to: ECDC Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A PreK 4 teacher at Marquette Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) is responsible for instructing children in activities designed to promote spiritual, social, physical, intellectual growth, and motor skills. The position has a ministerial character that requires levels of virtue and decency that reflect conformity with Catholic teachings regarding faith and morality. In the same way, the person is required to observe diocesan and parochial norms and practices established to protect the
integrity of children, youth, and people in vulnerable situations as well as promote human, spiritual, and moral development in the youth as envisioned by the teachings of the Catholic Church in a creative and dynamic fashion.
Key Tasks:
Be loyal and committed to Marquette Catholic School, its policies, and procedures.
Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with students, working cooperatively with colleagues, support staff, parish staff, and administration.
Communicate with parents in a positive, effective, and timely manner.
Follow the policies and regulations of the diocese and the early childhood program.
Frequently meet with other early childhood teachers to share professional ideas.
Maintain a professionally appropriate appearance and decorum in the classroom.
Attend all faculty meetings, in-services, and other meetings as specified by the administrator.
Engage in professional growth opportunities relevant to early childhood education.
Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood curriculum guidelines and subject matter.
Engage in ongoing curriculum evaluation.
Demonstrate evidence of prior planning and preparation.
Keep records of children's physical, intellectual, social development, and emotional progress.
Give children a feeling of stability and belonging.
Encourage children to express feelings.
Adapt to individual abilities and disabilities whenever possible.
Show firmness, fairness, and consistency in disciplining and guiding children.
Support students and parents through presence at special events and school/center programs.
Keep students on task in a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in religion, math, art, language, music,
movement, social, and motor skills such as: learning to listen to instructions, playing with
others, and using play equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Tasks:
Excellent communication skills Proficient in technology utilized by the school including Word, Excel, and Google Ability to work well with colleagues, parents, and volunteers
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree with certification in Early Childhood Education, Have or working toward: A current and valid Oklahoma teaching certificate, OR A current and valid teaching certificate from another state
