Job Description

Holy Cross High School is searching for qualified candidates to fulfill a part-time position in their Business Department.

The Part-Time Business Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in business and finance-related courses at the high school level. The teacher will foster student understanding of career exploration, personal financial literacy, financial markets, and business concepts while preparing students for college, career, and real-world financial decision-making.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and course objectives.
• Develop lesson plans, assessments, projects, and instructional materials that promote student engagement and achievement.
• Teach fundamental concepts related to career exploration, workplace readiness, personal financial management, investing, financial institutions, entrepreneurship, and business operations.
• Integrate technology, current events, and real-world applications into classroom instruction.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
• Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development activities, and school events as required.
• Ensure compliance with school policies, procedures, and educational regulations.

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Business Education, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of business, finance, economics, and career education concepts.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

Preferred
• Master's degree in Education, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous high school teaching experience in business or finance courses.
• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) or college-level business and finance coursework.
• Familiarity with financial literacy standards and career readiness frameworks.
• Experience integrating instructional technology and project-based learning strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of personal finance, investing, financial markets, entrepreneurship, and career development.
• Ability to make business and financial concepts relevant and accessible to students.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.
• Commitment to fostering critical thinking, financial literacy, and career readiness.

Work Schedule
• Part-time position.
• Schedule and teaching load determined by student enrollment and school needs.
