Job Description
Job Overview:The Assistant Principal is the primary partner of the Principal in the management of the school, its faculty, staff, and students, with particular emphasis on instructional leadership and student discipline/culture in the Middle School. As such, the Assistant Principal is an integral member of the School Leadership Team, and bears shared responsibility for the integration of Catholic teaching throughout the life of the school with particular emphasis, again, on the Middle School. The position is ministerial in nature and reports to / is evaluated by the Principal.
Essential Position Functions:
The Assistant Principal:
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Supports and assists with the responsibilities of the principal, particularly related to the electives, house program, and after-school program
Serves as the principal in the principal's absence
Assists in the general administration of the school, and serves on the School Leadership team, School Advisory board and on the Prince of Peace Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)
Supports the communication, training, and supervision of the faculty and staff
Assists in planning for staff development, curriculum , educational textbooks and materials, and student testing
Maintains documentation of instructional planning and student interventions
Interprets and enforces school policies
Assists with faculty and other meetings
Provides direct supervision of school-sponsored activities
Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
Responsible for middle school student and faculty scheduling.
Responsible for entering and maintaining schedules in RenWeb.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
A practicing and well-formed Catholic who is able to fully participate in the Sacraments of the Church. Bachelor's degree and/or actively pursuing a Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field. Successful teaching experience with contemporary knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and adolescent development. Experience with school information systems such as RenWeb, Google Suite, and PowerSchool preferred, or the ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize these platforms. Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the life of the school community.
