Job Description

The Madeleine Choir School, a mission of The Cathedral of the Madeleine, seeks a Lower School Principal to serve as Academic/Instructional Leader for approximately 200 students from diverse backgrounds in Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Grade Three. Serving collaboratively with a leadership team under the direction of the Pastoral Administrator, the successful Catholic candidate will support the school's excellent instruction in mathematics and the sciences, with demonstrated proficiency and success implementing best practices in early childhood education, literacy, and student services. She/he will have experience leading a learning community in programs focused on character formation, virtues, and social competence. He/she will have excellent communication skills with parents and faculty members and be willing to embrace the vision of a Choir School as an agent of liturgical renewal, supporting the school's integral role in the Cathedral's life of worship. Established in 1996, the school has a 2.5-acre campus with six buildings, including a new Field House and Early Education Center, which opened in September of 2024. Position available July 1, 2026. The Madeleine Choir School, a mission of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City and a service of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, is an elementary school for children in Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Established in 1996, the school continues the cathedral tradition of preparing young people to engage the culture with the Catholic intellectual, artistic, moral and religious tradition. The Choir School pursues rigorous academic curricula in the humanities, mathematics and sciences, and the arts. The school fosters a strong program of moral and character formation, and seeks to provide a thought-provoking and comprehensive study of Christian Theology.
