Primary Office: Manassas
Hours per Week: 20 Non-exempt
Staff Supervisor: Education Services Supervisor - Manassas
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-1:30pm
Starting Hourly Rate: $22.73
Position Description:
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities of the ESOL and Citizenship programs at the Manassas site. This position oversees students and volunteer teachers as assigned. The Education Coordinator will also complete all deliverables under grants, including but not limited to devising and analyzing teacher and student surveys, ensuring execution of class projects and teacher meetings, regularly communicating site up dates with teachers, tracking student hours, and recognizing student progress in online platforms, and more.
Position Responsibilities:
• Register students and update student data
• Supervise and observe classroom instruction to ensure quality education
• In alignment with agency volunteer standards, recruit, and train volunteer teachers to keep a robust teaching staff
• Completing all grant deliverables, including creating and analyzing teacher and student surveys to measure program impact
Other Duties:
• Track student attendance and progress to report program success
• Enter and updating student registration and demographic information
• Prepare outreach materials
• Outreach: Explore new parish sites and reach out to new communities to provide classes
• Manage teacher resources and website. Update student and teacher handbooks
• Provide support to walk-ins
• Willingness to uphold Catholic social teaching in the workplace
Qualifications & Skills:
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Flexible to work irregular hours including evenings and occasional weekends
• Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and data management
• Effective communication and organizational skills, diligence, and ability to multi-task
• Effective critical thinking skills
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to learn new tasks and procedures, comply with processes, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow
Education and Experience:
• AA or BA in education, social sciences, other relevant field of study or 2 years relevant experience
• Experience working in a team environment, ability to work well in a high-paced environment.
• Two or more years of experience working in a multi-cultural setting.
• At least two years of proven experience devising standards-based curriculum for classroom instruction.
