Position will work in the Arlington, VA office Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.Please include brief cover letter with resume.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Office of Information Technology is responsible for selecting, deploying, and supporting software, hardware, and telecommunication resources for the 400+ staff members and 200 volunteers of the Central Administrative Offices (CAO) of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington (CDA), the Arlington Catholic Herald (ACH), and the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) to utilize in fulfilling their mission within the Diocese.
The Information Technology Office is a group of generalists divided into network and application services teams that collaborate on delivering services and projects. The Network Services team is primarily focused on the infrastructure, security, and productivity software for the three entities. The network is a two-domain environment with a single AD forest and includes 16 remote Catholic Charities Offices (CC) using point-to-point VPN.
The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations, management, administration, and troubleshooting, of all endpoints (servers, laptop & desktop) storage, , and network infrastructure, both on premise and cloud based.
The Network Administrator is responsible for oversight of Tech Support which includes organizing and coordinating the schedules and ticket assignments and management of three Tech Support Technicians.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Act as primary point of contact responsible for daily administration of the infrastructure environment (all endpoints, storage, peripherals and network infrastructure with the exception of security assets)
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues and deploy solutions for all network components (servers, switches, routers, etc....)
Plan and implement upgrades, patches, and installation of new equipment
Set up, configure, maintain, and dispose of physical and virtual endpoints in the environment.
Act as SME for SCVMM for managing, monitoring, configuring, and deploying virtual machines within the infrastructure.
Troubleshoot issues and deploy solutions for all servers in CAO and CCDA infrastructure.
Provide day-to-day administration of Azure/cloud based virtual machines and virtual networks including set up, configuration, deployment and troubleshooting
Configure, administer, and maintain storage device(s).
Manage and coordinate technical support requests for end user focused systems and software in Track IT Help Desk/Inventory system including:
o Monitoring ticket queue
o Reviewing support requests
o Assigning tickets to tech support staff
o Tracking ticket status
Act as escalation point to provide troubleshooting guidance and assistance for tech support team
Ensure all Tech Support SLA's are met for support requests
Mentor and train tech support staff based on CAO environment and Tech Support SOP's
Provide Assistant Director with feedback on performance, areas of improvement and training opportunities for Tech Support staff
Act as primary administrator for Adobe Creative Cloud suite including licensing, installation, management and account access
Act as Administrator/SME for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager including:
o Development, design, and deployment of Windows OS upgrades
o Review, testing and deployment of Windows security patches
o Development, testing, and deployment of Windows imaging for end user endpoints
Act as Administrator/SME for PatchMyPC to include review, testing and deployment of third-party application patching and updates
Act as SME for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) including day to day administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Review and resolve all SCOM alerts, with research and documentation on critical alerts provided to Assistant Director within four hours of notification.
Design and maintain up-to-date testing, development, and training environments for critical servers
Draft and maintain detailed restore and installation instructions, including software and services, on all servers for disaster recovery purposes and inclusion in DR plan
Act as primary administrator for routers, switches, wireless environment; including troubleshooting, firmware updates, VLAN configuration and routing.
Act as primary administrator for Fat Pipe load balancer.
Provide data for capacity planning and network/infrastructure performance using PowerBI and other analytic tools.
Complete maintenance of filters for humidifier and HVAC units in the NOC.
Provide technical assistance and support for disaster recovery scenarios.
Maintain SOP content related to Network Administrator responsibilities (servers, switches, wireless, etc.)
Act as back-up for Assistant Systems Administrator
Act as on-call primary point of contact for after hours and weekend infrastructure issues for a one-week rotation every four to six weeks.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Exercises some discretion under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Information Technology.

Physical Demands/Working Environment
o While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weight of 10 - 50 pounds.
o Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read.
o Frequently required to sit, hear, talk and use repetitive motions of the hands/wrists.
o Work performed in and out of the office setting.
o Able to hold a valid driver's license and to operate a vehicle.
o Required to travel to CDA and CCDA locations throughout the diocese.
o One week of 24 X 7 on-call responsibilities every four to six weeks.
o Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills:
o Advanced knowledge of local area networks
o Advanced knowledge of switches and routers
o Advanced knowledge of wireless networking and protocols
o Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2016,Server 2019 and Server 2022
o Intermediate knowledge of on-prem and cloud infrastructure including virtual machines, virtual networks, etc. (preferably Hyper-V and Azure)
o Proficient in analyzing and maintaining telecommunications equipment
o Intermediate knowledge of Windows 11
o Intermediate knowledge of Office 365 Admin and Security Portals
o Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite software
o Intermediate knowledge of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
o Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
o Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Technology-related field and five plus years of hands-on experience, or Associates Degree and seven plus years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure
Licenses/Certifications: Network + required; Security+ preferred.
Years and Types of Experience: Five-to-seven years' experience in Network Administration supporting, managing, and troubleshooting servers, switches, and other networking/security infrastructure.
