Job SummaryThe Adult Ministry Evangelist works collaboratively with and under the direction of the pastor and their immediate supervisor. This position allows for the wide latitude to exercise independent judgement and initiative within the scope of the job. This role supports the parish's vision and mission by developing a comprehensive program schedule that evangelizes, fosters community among adults, creates opportunities to encounter Christ, and equips them to become intentional disciples and active members of the Church. The ideal candidate is passionate about adult faith formation, demonstrates initiative, and brings a strong work ethic to the role.

The Disciple Development team partners with all staff and volunteers to build disciples and foster spiritual maturity through relational ministry, formation programs, and outreach opportunities. Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St John Neumann Catholic Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St John Neumann Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Essential Duties
• As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St John Neumann Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
• Plan, direct, and implement parish-level opportunities for adults assigned in the areas of evangelization, sacramental preparation, formation and study programs
• Work closely with the Liturgy/Music Team to implement liturgies for OCIA and other sacraments
• Work closely with Stewardship/Communications Team to implement promotions for programs and events
• Partner with programs that serve those not yet in our pews (e.g., Alpha & Welcome) to develop a roadmap for those seeking or returning to the Catholic Church
• Act as staff liaison for assigned ministries related to Adult Faith Formation
• Recruit and train volunteers
• Ensure volunteer compliance with Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) regulation and SJN policies
• Other duties assigned by the Pastor and their direct supervisor
Administrative Duties
• Prepare a yearly budget to meet the needs of adult faith formation at the parish
• Utilize Ministry Platform parishioner database
• Use Espace to reserve calendar space for events
Working Conditions:
• All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
• The Parish is an at-will employer.
• Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• General knowledge of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
• Leadership formation experience
• Relational ministry experience
• Curriculum development
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Public speaking experience
• A collaborative spirit
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs
• Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays will be required
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Degree or certification in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Studies or related field is preferred
• Two+ years' employment in a parish setting
• Two+ years' experience in working or volunteering in adult faith formation
• A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
• Ongoing compliance with the Diocese of Austin in Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies
• Must be able to lift materials up to 20 lbs.
