Position Type: Full Time, Hourly (40hrs/week)

Position: Coordinator of Family and Youth Evangelization

Reports to: Pastor

Summary: This position is part of a greater team of staff in the Education and Formation Office of the parish, including the assistance of a Program Support Specialist and Administrative Support Specialist. The CFYE works under the direction of the pastor to equip the youth, young adults, and adults in the parish to know their faith better, grasp with intellectual vigor the teachings of Sacred Scripture and Tradition, and go into their lives witnessing to the truth of Christ's love and salvation.

Responsibilities for coordination of youth evangelization:
• To develop and manage the catechetical program and preparation for the reception of sacraments of initiation and Confirmation for both candidates and their parents.
• To train and supervise volunteers to assist in the catechetical education of children; along with the parish's Safe Environment Coordinator, to ensure that all volunteers are properly trained and certified in the VIRTUS Child Safety Environment.
• To schedule regular core team meetings to promote greater team identity.
• To engage with parents of middle and high school youth in the parish who are in the youth ministry programs, and to assist the parents in taking the lessons learned in the program and teaching them to their children in their homes. Also, to proactively reach out to parents whose youth are not currently enrolled in youth ministry and Confirmation preparation to encourage them to enroll their children in the program.
• To organize special events and community functions to integrate the social, liturgical, and spiritual life of the church into the lives of the youth in the parish, i.e. annual carnival, summer bible schools, special liturgies for teens and young adults, annual summer camp for youth groups.
• To work with the Diocesan Director for catechetics to assure compliance with diocesan regulations and attend diocesan sponsored workshops and meetings.
• To organize and facilitate regular gatherings of young adults in the parish, especially during times when college students are home from school.

Responsibilities for coordination of family evangelization:
• To develop and facilitate the teaching of a program of initiation for adult aspirants (RCIA) to the Catholic Faith.
• To provide a series of educational programs for adult members of the parish seeking to enrich their understanding of the Faith through biblical studies, theological subjects, and social issues among others.
• To collaborate with the pastor and parish staff to realize the parish mission through personal contact and community building, planning, and executing the parish goals and objectives.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge in theology, religious studies, and/or catechetics.
• Must be a practicing Roman Catholic, able to provide a letter of good standing from current Catholic employer or parish pastor.
• 3-5 years of experience working in a Catholic institution with adults and/or youth, and can demonstrate effectively the use of classroom techniques, and familiarity with sacramental preparation curriculum.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills both written and oral.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, families, and children.
• Ability to recruit and train volunteer teachers and delegate successfully.
• Experience in Microsoft Office, including Publisher, is essential.
• Commitment to continued personal growth in faith and professional advancement.
• English-Spanish bilingual, strongly preferred.
