Job Description

Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a Catholic financial services organization in La Crosse, WI and we are searching for a highly experienced Director of Operations to join their team. This person will be responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plans of the organization and will maintain the organization's mission of 'Serving those who Serve'.

This is an immediate direct hire opportunity!
Salary: $90k-$100k based on experience

Job Duties

• Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization, monitoring delivery of the programs and services to maintain or improve quality.
• Act as a spokesperson for the organization and participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization.
• Identify, assess, and inform the Board of internal and external issues that affect the organization.
• Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization.
• Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and quarterly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
• Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board.
• Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization.
• Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
• Review, approve and process loan requests in a timely manner ensuring required documentation is provided, approval process/authorized signatures obtained, follows up with individual/parish/school to obtain required information as necessary.
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control and safeguards keeping financial information and plans confidential.
• Interact with staff and client departments to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analysis, reports, and recommendations.
• Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.
• Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development and review of job descriptions.
• Ensure a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with appropriate legislation and regulations.
• Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.
• Recruit, interview and select of competent, qualified staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization's mission.
• Ensure that all staff receives an orientation to the organization and that appropriate training is provided.
• Coach, mentor and educate staff to improve performance using appropriate practices and techniques.
• Employ a performance management process for staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review.
• Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with regulations and generally accepted accounting standards.
• Fulfill other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a professional discipline relevant to providing executive leadership.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Prior experience in the financial management field and/or benefits administration required.
• Possess keen understanding of financial/banking procedures related to savings, borrowing, investments, accounting, foundations, insurance and retirement programs.
• Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
• Prior experience managing and motivating a team, with ability to nurture and develop associates.
• Ability to interact in a positive manner; practice active listening; be open and honest; treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration; respond to difficult, stressful, or sensitive interpersonal situations in ways that reduce or minimize potential conflict and maintains good working relationships among internal and external customers.
• Willingness to accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work; can be relied upon to achieve results with little need for oversight.
• Ability to fulfill commitments with quality and timely work, and promote a friendly climate and cooperation among team members.
• Time management, including ability to work independently and efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and schedule workload of self and others.

• Knowledge of related computer programs and experience with Microsoft Office and other program applications.
