Job Description

Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego

Chief Advancement Officer

Bryant Group is proud to partner with the Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego to recruit the Chief Advancement Officer

The Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego (CCDSD) is seeking a dynamic Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to serve as a key member of Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego's executive leadership team, providing vision and strategic direction for all advancement functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CAO will oversee fundraising, communications, marketing, branding and parish engagement to ensure the organization's long-term sustainability and mission impact. Leading a team of seven advancement professionals, the CAO will act as the chief development strategist and ambassador, building strong relationships with donors, funders, parishes and community partners while working closely with the Board of Directors and executive leadership.

This role requires comprehensive fundraising leadership, including the development and execution of annual and long-term strategies that diversify revenue through individual, corporate, foundation and planned giving. The CAO will personally manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, expand CCDSD's reach locally and nationally, and guide the CEO's and Board's involvement in fundraising efforts. Additionally, the CAO will lead communications, marketing and branding strategies to elevate CCDSD's visibility and voice across digital, print and media platforms while serving as a spokesperson for the organization.

The CAO will also direct parish and community engagement initiatives, strengthening CCDSD's connection to Catholic parishes and community partners while developing programs that foster a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism. As a collaborative leader, the CAO will mentor and manage the advancement team, ensure operational excellence in data management and reporting, and partner with program and finance teams to align advancement efforts with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will bring 12-15 years of progressive fundraising experience, a deep understanding of Catholic networks, and a strong commitment to serving vulnerable and marginalized communities, along with exceptional strategic, communication and relationship-building skills.
