TITLE: Admissions & Recruitment Counselor

DEPARTMENT: Admissions

Classification (FLSA): Exempt, Salary

REPORTS TO: Director of Admissions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Admissions Counselor supports recruitment efforts and guides prospective students through the admissions funnel from inquiry to enrollment. The Counselor maintains regular phone and email communication with assigned students and families to assess interest, provide guidance and support, and promote Christendom's education. The role also builds national awareness recruitment pipelines through relationship-based outreach and travel across the country to present at high schools, parishes, homeschool groups, and homes of friends of the College.

CHIEF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Admissions Guide

1. Manage portfolio of students, serving as their counselor and guide from their first point of contact through enrollment by communicating frequently with them to determine their level of interest, to encourage them to move through the admissions process, and to assist them in understanding distinctive differences between Christendom College and other post-high school options.

2. Know, understand, and answer the common questions and concerns that prospective students and their families have regarding Christendom College, and how Christendom differs from other Catholic colleges, especial Newman Guide schools.

3. Maintain detailed notes of interactions with prospective student families on Slate.

4. Contact parents of prospective students to guide them through the next steps of the admissions process at every step of the admissions cycle.

5. Lead admissions-related webinars for prospective students and their families.

6. Serve as a welcoming presence for prospective student families to campus, especially by leading campus tours and conducting in-person interviews with campus visitors.

7. Assist with Saturday Admissions Office events (Open House, Scholarship Competition, etc)

Travel & Outreach

1. Assist the Director of Admissions in recruitment travel to targeted areas to offer presentations at high schools, parishes, conferences, and Christendom 101 events. This involves planning and executing 6-8 out-of-state overnight recruitment trips and about 10-14 day-long recruitment visits annually.

2. Contact current Christendom parents and alumni and equip them to host Christendom 101s nationwide.

3. Promote Open House events and the Best Week Ever to constituents through mailings, flyers, parish bulletin inserts, phone calls, and digital communications.

4. Record and keep up to date both the Organizations and Organizations Contacts lists on Slate.

5. Serve as point of contact for college conferences and fairs; sending promotional materials, and attending and presenting, as needed.

6. Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, current parents, alumni, and priests nationally through regular outreach and contact to encourage them to have their students attend the summer program, visit, attend Open House events, and apply to Christendom. This outreach includes the weekly newsletter, the Christendom Connection.

7. Other related tasks as they may be assigned by Director of Admissions or VP for Enrollment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- College graduate at B.A. level, required
- Must be knowledgeable about the importance of studying the liberal arts in a Catholic environment
- Self-motivated with excellent initiative and gumption
- Must be willing to travel
- Must have logistical competence and strong time management skills to schedule efficient and budget-conscious recruitment trips
- Experience in making public presentations in sales-related capacity or customer-service experience
- Comfortable speaking on the phone and communicating effectively and confidently
- Comfortable meeting people; must have excellent public speaking abilities
- Customer-service oriented and patience to work with indecisive and non-committal prospects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to work for a Catholic apostolate
- Friendly, cheerful, and professional disposition
- Candidates with a choleric temperament tend to excel in this position
