Job Description

SUMMARY
The Campus Minister for University Catholic (UCat) at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) serves as a dynamic and faith-filled leader who fosters a vibrant Catholic presence on campus. This full-time role is based at the St. Martin de Porres House supporting students through pastoral care, discipleship, liturgical life, service, and community engagement. The campus minister collaborates with the chaplain to implement programs that form intentional disciples of Jesus Christ and embody the mission of the Church in higher education. Committed to the mission of University Catholic: Proposing Jesus Christ and Forming His Disciples, the campus minister should embody Christian hospitality, spiritual leadership, and a passion for evangelization, service, and justice in the context of campus life.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE
Pastoral Ministry
Welcome and accompany students at UCat programs and events such as; Sunday Supper, Veritas (faith formation night), Study Break
Provide pastoral care and spiritual accompaniment to students.
Maintain a warm, hospitable atmosphere at the St. Martin de Porres House and all UCat events.
Support student outreach efforts including ministry fairs and collaboration with faculty advisors.
sist the diocesan office with retreats, service projects, and special events.
Coordinate and lead regular Bible studies and discipleship groups rooted in Church teaching.
Mentor student leaders and serve as a liaison to the diocese.

Liturgical & Sacramental Support
Collaborate with chaplain and clergy to support liturgical celebrations, including Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation.
Coordinate training for liturgical ministers such as: Lectors, Altar servers, and Eucharistic ministers
Assist in planning and promoting prayer experiences and sacramental preparation opportunities.

Event & Program Leadership
Coordinate and execute logistics for Sunday Supper, Veritas, and Study Break, including meals, signage, and the welcoming of students.
Support summer outreach and tabling events.
Coordinate service opportunities and immersion experiences.
Promote Catholic social teaching and justice education.
Collaborate with local organizations and campus partners to foster a culture of service.

Administrative & Operational Leadership
Manage email communications, newsletters, and calendar updates.
Maintain and update social media platforms (Instagram, GroupMe, Flocknote) and website.
Oversee registrations for and evaluation of events such as: Awakening Retreats, SEEK Conference Trip, and the March for Life Pilgrimage
Track expenses, organize receipts, and support ministry logistics.
Mentor and train student leaders in ministry roles.
Support peer ministry and leadership formation programs.
Encourage student ownership and initiative in planning and leading events.
Performs other duties assigned by the Assistant Director of UCat and the Director of the Office of Faith Formation.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience working in Catholic campus ministry or related ministries.
Bachelor's degree in theology or related field is preferred.
Experience in organizing student events and trips.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
Active parish involvement.
Knowledge of Church doctrine and practice.
Articulate written and public speaking skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
Established passion for evangelization and catechesis.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with computer programs, web-based software, and social media platforms.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
