Job Description
The Coordinator of Youth Evangelization and Catechesis provides vision and coordination of the parish efforts in ministry to young people from 6th-12th grade, in accordance with the vision of the pastor. This includes Middle School and High School Ministry, high school Confirmation preparation, social activities, service projects, mission trips, retreats, and general outreach.Accountability
The Coordinator of Youth Evangelization and Catechesis is a member of the parish staff who reports directly to the Director of Parish Catechesis.
Youth Evangelization and Catechesis Responsibilities
As a member of the parish staff the Coordinator of Youth Evangelization and Catechesis is responsible for the following:
• All parish youth Evangelization and Catechesis efforts for 6th-12th grade.
• Work with the Director of Parish Catechesis to ensure continuity between religious education programs for all grades. Coordinates with Childrens Catechesis Coordinator on matters of Confirmation Preparation for the parish.
• Coordinate Middle School Ministry
o Recruit, train and oversee adult volunteer catechists including Safe Environment Training.
o Recruit, train and oversee high school peer leaders, who assist with Middle School Ministry. Work with Safe Environment coordinator to ensure all volunteers are Safe Environment Trained.
o In collaboration with the Director of Parish Catechesis: choose and develop curriculum, as needed, and ensure program is meeting national standards for each grade level.
• Coordinate High School Ministry.
o Recruit, train and oversee high school peer leaders, who assist with High School Ministry. Work with Safe Environment coordinator to ensure all volunteers are Safe Environment Trained.
o In collaboration with the Director of Parish Catechesis: choose and develop curriculum, as needed, and ensure program is meeting national standards for each grade level.
• Coordinate larger events including, but not limited to:
o Steubenville of the Rockies High School Conference.
o Mountain Madness Middle School Conference.
o Mission Trips.
o Middle School, Confirmation, and High School Retreats.
• Plan, advertise, and run various other activities for teens at St. Mark, including spiritual, social, community building, prayer, retreats, and service.
• Develop, maintain, and oversee the Youth Ministry budget.
• Regularly communicate with parents and students about upcoming activities and events.
• Attend all staff meetings, staff retreats, in-service as required.
• Other duties as requested and needed.
Relationships

• Parents and Parishioners: Regular communication and seek input as needed.
• Diocesan offices: Regular communication, adherence to diocesan policies, and participation in meetings.

• Youth: Clear communication and spiritual support.
Administrative Responsibilities
• Regular communication with youth through the use of:
o Bulletin
o Event Flyers
o Calendars
o Website
o Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
o Mail-Outs
o Flocknote (e-mails and texts)
o Personal Phone Calls Outreach- Database
• Developing and monitoring budget.
• Maintaining accurate records.
Personal Responsibilities
• Preferred Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
• An active Catholic in good standing with the Church with no impediment to full communion.
• An active and visible member of a parish community.
o This includes but is not limited to attendance at Sunday Mass and involvement in the greater parish.
• A person who has working knowledge of Catholic teaching and morality.
• A person of deep faith and prayer.
• A person of good character, reputation, and record.
• A person called to ministry.
• A person with a commitment to continuing professional development (Graduate School, Catholic Biblical School, etc.)
• A person who believes in and continues to study, understand, and apply Catholic theology as the core of his/her ministry.
• A person able to provide formation adapted to meet specific individual needs so that the spiritual growth of a young person is encouraged and enriched according to their abilities.
• A person who possesses effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A person who is creative, self-motivated, and full of the joy of the Lord.
• A person willing to deal with the challenges of youth ministry (long weekends, late nights, etc.)
• A person who is capable of self- care:
o Develops a healthy way of living that avoids working long hours with little time for exercise, proper nutrition, sufficient sleep, recreation, friends, prayer, or reflective reading.
o Able to maintain the boundaries of his/her professional commitment.
o Does not try to assist anyone whose needs extend beyond his/her level of competence.
o Ideally is able to maintain a regular program of spiritual direction or supervision.
o Ideally able to participate in a peer support group
