Job Description
TITLE: Accounting InternDEPARTMENT: Accounting
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the accounting team with day-to-day accounting tasks while gaining hands-on experience in non-profit financial operations. This role assists financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and data entry to help maintain accurate records and support compliance. This individual must be organized and detail-oriented with experience in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and have completed a minimum of intermediate accounting-related coursework. The Accounting intern reports directly to the Accounting Manager and may assist with other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
•Completion of intermediate accounting coursework, a junior-level accounting major.
•Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
•Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
•Good problem-solving and communication skills.
•Ability to handle sensitive financial and any confidential information with discretion.
•Interest and exposure in nonprofit accounting, accountability, and mission-driven work.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
•Previous internship, volunteer, campus leadership, or office experience preferred.
•Familiarity with Sage accounting software, knowledge of GAAP and basic nonprofit accounting concepts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Support month-end and year-end close activities, including assisting in preparation of schedules and supporting documentation, bank and account reconciliations, receivables, and other ad-hoc reconciliations.
•Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
•Organize financial files and audit support materials while maintaining confidentiality and strong internal controls.
•Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities including filing and scanning to store in the appropriate accounting shared drive.
•Perform other related duties as assigned by manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVEL
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. POSITION CLASSIFICATION, TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is an on-site and part-time, non-exempt hourly position. Days and hours of work are to be determined during business hours Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and may include evening and weekend obligations.
