Job Description
Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and School in Potomac Falls, VA seeks an Assistant Facilities ManagerThe Assistant Facilities Manager, who reports to the Facilities Manager, is responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager with the maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role often involves performing routine maintenance tasks, ensuring cleanliness and safety, and coordinating with the facilities manager and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Routine Maintenance and Repairs:
Performing maintenance and basic repair tasks such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and landscaping.
• Custodial Duties:
Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, classrooms, and other areas, following established practices and procedures.
• Facility Management:
Scheduling and supervising custodial and routine maintenance for church buildings, parish offices, and other facilities.
• Event Support:
Assisting with set-ups and tear-downs for events and meetings.
• Coordination:
Supporting the facilities manager in coordinating work with custodial, maintenance, and contractor personnel.
• Safety and Security:
Ensuring the facilities are safe and secure as well as identifying and addressing potential hazards and emergencies.
• Long-Term Planning:
Assisting with preventative maintenance planning and long-term facility needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Appropriate certifications in maintenance/engineering or equivalent experience
• Previous maintenance experience. Supervisory experience in maintenance is a plus.
• Knowledge of maintenance in the fields of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, cement work, sanitation, mechanics, HVAC, grounds maintenance, and janitorial care.
• Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and address maintenance issues and emergencies.
• Communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, volunteers, and contractors.
• Ability to prepare and implement budgets is a plus.
• Familiarity with church and school environments.
• Ability to work with a variety of constituents.
• Must submit to a background check and comply with safe environment protocols.
