Job Description
Essential Job Duties:Leadership and Strategic roles:
Develop relationships with internal and external customers including budget managers, auditors, College Officers, and the Board of Trustees.
Work closely with the operational leadership team of the College to develop business processes, gain efficiencies, increase financial stability, and make strategic financial moves to support the mission of the College.
Develop uniform budgetary, financial, and operational policies, procedures, and systems.
Develop financial and data models including enrollment, retention, and ROI models to help make strategic business decisions.
Direct and coordinate the College's financial planning and budget management.
Lead the College's financial services team including accounting, accounts payable and receivable, procurement, and student accounts.
Budget and Compliance role:
Work closely with the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in development of the annual operating and capital budgets, associated processes, and long-range financial planning in alignment with the College's vision and strategic priorities.
Act as a trusted partner and resource for budget managers as they prepare budgets based on goals, current revenue, expenses and past performance.
Analyze financial information throughout the year (e.g. revenues, expenditures and cash management) to ensure all operations are within budget.
Oversee the College's endowment and necessary reporting and make recommendations on annual endowment disbursements.
Work with the accountant to monitor and report on the monthly budget, expenditures, actuals, and projections.
Direct and oversee month end closings, financial and compliance reporting, and coordination of external audits.
Analyze current revenue models for improvements, as well as recommend other strategic revenue sources that align with the College's mission.
Assist in monitoring and renegotiating College-wide contracts.
Act as a partner in development and oversight of budgets for private grants in conjunction with the grant coordinators.
Work closely with other members of the College financial leadership team to prepare and review necessary financial reports such as reports on cash management, accounts receivable and payable, and expenditures.
Work on special projects as assigned by the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Protect the confidentiality of the College's information to which the position will have access.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:
Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree preferred.
A minimum of five years of progressive responsibility in managing budgets, grants, and contracts.
Experience as a team leader or manager.
Understanding and embracing of the College's Catholic Higher Education mission essential.
Highly motivated and independent worker who takes initiative while working closely with colleagues and supervisor.
Highly developed skills in complex financial analysis, monitoring, reporting and control as well as superior management skills needed to maximize organizational resources and improve the customer experience.
Proven ability to communicate complex financial ideas and concepts clearly to audiences with varying financial ability.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages. Jenzabar One preferred.
Ability to handle the stress of managing financials of college and handling multiple priorities and deadlines with grace.
Strong analytical and reasoning capabilities; experience with data and financial modeling.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work on a team to propose solutions and solve problems.
