Job Description
Job SummaryThe Teen Program Coordinator at Contigo Youth Club, under the direction of the Contigo Director, plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates programs and activities for holistic, positive youth development. The Teen Program Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Teen Center and the supervision and well-being of the participants at Contigo Youth Club and St. Anthony Teen Center.
The Teen Program Coordinator is expected to be a participating member of the broader Contigo Youth Club team. This includes collaborating on the planning and running of retreats for youth at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, brainstorming and implementing creative forms of discipleship for members of the club, working with the Religious Education office to lead a Confirmation class, and taking a leadership role in the preparation and running of Contigo's summer programming, Camp Contigo.
Responsibilities and Duties
Program Development and Implementation:
Implement and administer programs, services, and activities for regular and drop-in members and visitors
Execute programs that are age appropriate and developmentally suitable; conduct regular quality assessments to ensure program objectives are met
Plan, organize, and implement a range of programs and activities for Club members
Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality of programs and appearance of the Center at all times; prepare periodic activity reports
Collaborate with the rest of the team on the preparations for and running of summer programming
This includes assisting with hiring and mentoring high school summer camp interns
Health & Safety:
Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in program areas.
Manage facilities and ensure a productive work environment. Maintain in good order equipment and supplies; work with others to ensure Club facilities are cleaned daily.
Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:
Open and close the Teen Center.
Working with administrative staff to ensure accurate records are maintained (registration, attendance, finances, etc.)
Other responsibilities as assigned.
May participate in special programs and/or events.
Ability to work limited evening shifts to teach a parish Confirmation class
Requirements:
2-3 years of work or missionary experience, preferably in a youth-serving organization
Practicing Catholic who supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
Zeal for personal holiness and for the mission of the Church, including faithfulness to the Church's Magisterium
Experience working with young people, parents, and community leaders
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate teens
Strong communication skills, Spanish proficiency or fluency preferred
Ability to deal effectively with youth members, including behavior management
Education and Certifications:
High School Diploma required
Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required, preferably with an education, youth development, or similar focus
Valid driver's license for 3 years required
CPR First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified
Must be able to pass a background check and comply with Diocese of Arlington child protection and safe environment requirements
Availability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Exposure to indoor and outdoor work environments
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to be effective in an environment with varying levels of noise throughout the day
Ability to maintain both visual and auditory supervision of youth members
