Job Description

Job Title: Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Confirmation, and Parish Communications
Reports to: Pastor- Fr. Dane Dickinson

Summary: The role of the person in this full-time salaried position is to support the mission and ministries of the parish in an efficient, ethical, pastoral and fiscally responsible manner. Due to the unique nature of the position, office hours will be flexible according to programming.
Primary focus is three-fold: 1) Youth ministry in grades 6 - 12; 2) Coordination of students preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation; 3) Communications: print and social media for St. James Parish. Work in a collaborative environment and with the faith formation team, volunteers and parish staff to integrate principles of youth ministry faith formation, and parish communication.

Qualifications:
• Practicing Catholic in good standing, with active membership in a Catholic parish.
• Undergrad degree in Youth Ministry, Theology, or related field, or 5 years' experience in youth ministry preferred.
• Committed to parish vision and values.
• Highly motivated, energetic and works well with staff and team members.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Computer Skills a must; experience with Google Suite (preferred).
• Organized, punctual and responsible.
• Experience in recruiting and supporting volunteers: supervisory skills are preferred.
• Successful completion of Diocesan background checks, Virtus training and compliance with Diocesan Code of Conduct requirements.

Coordinator of Youth Ministry/Confirmation Coordinator Program Responsibilities
• Work with: DRE/ RE to support Major Areas of Responsibilities:
• Work with all High School youth.
• Youth Group events.
• Middle School youth events.
• All forms of youth retreat work.
• Service projects with HS youth and Middle School students.
• Provide material for continuing education.
• Build a youth peer team.
• Stay up to date with continuing education.
• Attend youth ministers' monthly meetings.
• Be available to youth.
• Have all necessary safety measures in place for youth.
• Diocesan updated permission forms for each youth in hand for each gathering.
• Recruit, train and supervise youth team.
• Develop program schedule, assign & coordinate program meeting space.
• Work with parish staff and attend staff meetings.
• Work with parish staff and volunteer leaders in implementing the NCCB Charter for the Protection of youth and children and training volunteers.
• Confirmation coordinator.
• Assist in planning liturgies and para-liturgies with DRE, pastor, catechists, volunteers and music minister.
• Maintain good communication with the pastor, parish staff, diocese, and congregation.
• Maintain proper records and documentation.
• Follow policies and procedures in accordance with national and state laws, the Diocese of Davenport, and St. James.
• Other duties as assigned.

Communication Coordinator Responsibilities
• Work closely with Parish Office Manager regarding parish calendars, bulletin information, and items for parish newsletter.
• Oversee social media (Facebook, Webpage, Parish App., etc.) and update weekly.
• Publish parish newsletter that is emailed to parish members with printed copies available.
• Other duties as assigned.
