Job Description
The Associate Director of Music and Liturgy is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Music and Liturgy and assists in managing all aspects of divine worship for a large Catholic parish: playing organ/piano and leading choirs/instrumental ensembles; managing music and musicians; coordinating liturgical ministry volunteers; overseeing liturgical materials and supplies, instruments, and sound/video equipment; and other duties as assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Accompany (organ/piano) and/or conduct parish choirs as required including vocal choirs, children's choirs, handbells, and contemporary music in both English and Hispanic communities.
• Help train and coordinate liturgical volunteers.
• Assist the Director with upkeep of instruments, maintenance of the music library, liturgical planning, preparation of music and worship resources, and liturgical formation for the parish and music volunteers.
• Maintain and improve parish technology systems for worship, including sound systems, video recording and broadcast, and audio/video production.
• Accompany periodic school Masses during the academic year, assist with school choir as needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist other parish staff as needed with video and audio resources for events.
• Participate in full staff meetings and projects.
• Accompany as needed for weddings and funerals.
Qualifications
• A practicing Catholic preferred with thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and ability to communicate it to wider audience in both words and actions.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in music (or equivalent), preferably with specialized training in organ and piano, sacred music, and music technology.
• At least 2 years of experience in accompanying liturgical services.
• Must be comfortable with multiple technology platforms such as volunteer management systems, Finale music software, audio/video equipment, and Microsoft Office.
• Fluency or at least some basic proficiency in Spanish language desirable but not required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must, with the ability to lead adults and children/youth, direct/provide instruction from the piano or organ, and provide liturgical catechesis.
• Strong organizational skills.

• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
