Job Description

The College of St Joseph the Worker forms students in both the academic and manual trades, aiming for excellence in both to redeem all things in Christ. We are seeking an Electrical Instructor (EI) who will support the Master Electrician in training apprentices primarily through classroom instruction. This position is curriculum-focused, working directly with students in the areas of code instruction, lab exercises, and lesson planning.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Instructor is a full-time faculty member responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the NCCER Electrical curriculum, fostering excellence in technical competency, safety, professionalism, and moral character. This role is critical to the formation of the next generation of master craftsmen who view their work as a vocation ordered toward the common good and the glory of God. Providing mentorship to these apprentices, and supporting their on-the job training (OJT) will be an integral part of this position's role at the College.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach NCCER Electrical levels (e.g., Levels 1-4), covering applied electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance, residential/commercial/industrial wiring, safe work practices, blueprint reading, electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and related topics.
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons, practical demonstrations, hands-on labs, and assessments aligned with NCCER standards and college objectives.
- Oversee and mentor student apprentices, integrating their field experiences into the curriculum.
- Coordinate with the Master Electrician and other trades faculty to ensure integrated, progressive training experiences that build student skills from foundational to advanced levels.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped training environment (labs and classrooms), including inventory of tools/materials and adherence to OSHA/NCCER safety guidelines.
- Assess student performance through practical evaluations, NCCER module tests, performance rubrics, and journeyman-readiness benchmarks; provide constructive feedback to support growth in technical and virtuous habits.
- Integrate Catholic principles into instruction, emphasizing the dignity of manual labor, stewardship of creation, ethical decision-making in the trades, and work as participation in God's creative order.
- Collaborate with Catholic Studies faculty to reinforce connections between trade work and the lay vocation.
- Participate in college community life, including prayer, formation events, and mission-aligned activities.
- Contribute to program development, curriculum supplementation (within NCCER framework), and student recruitment/retention efforts in the electrical trade concentration.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Faithfully Catholic, submits to Church Authority in all Her teachings.
- Current journeyman or master electrician license/certification
- Minimum 5-7 years of field experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial electrical work, with demonstrated expertise as a lead or foreman.
- Strong knowledge of current NEC, OSHA standards, electrical theory, and best practices in safe, high-quality installations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire and form young adults.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on demonstrations, supervise on job sites, and lift moderate weights.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Prior teaching, training, or apprenticeship supervision experience is strongly preferred.
- NCCER Craft Instructor certification (or willingness and ability to obtain promptly).
- Be passionate about forming young men and women into capable, confident tradespeople.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with students and other instructors.
