Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer guides great stories by incarnating the SLC core values personally and by managing a Center in which staff members thrive. The COO ensures that the external relations and internal workings of the Center are aligned with our core values, thereby enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, future, and sustainability of the Catholic Church's mission to KU. The COO is ultimately responsible for ensuring the financial resources needed for the mission by directing both fundraising (Advancement), spending (budget), and the day-to-day non-ministerial operations for the Center.Our core values are:

Qualifications
The COO is a practicing Catholic who lives a life rooted in prayer. The COO, as any Church employee, upholds Catholic teaching both in word and by manner of life. Knowledge and experience working with fundraising, staff evaluation and development, human resources, and business operations preferred. The COO must love the Church and the faith and must be a team player who's able to build trust. The COO must demand personal excellence and the same excellence for the Center and its staff in advancement and operations. The COO must be an excellent administrator who is personable and inspiring, and able to sell the St. Lawrence mission to all parties, but especially to benefactors. The COO is also a visionary who is interested in listening to God and playing an active role in the development of the future story of the St. Lawrence Center, especially with respect to its facilities and mission in the world of 2025 and beyond.
Responsibilities (40 hours)
Advancement (20)
Manages and develops the Advancement Team. Currently, this includes the Director of Advancement and the Advancement Officer.
Directs the activities of the Center Board of Directors, Executive Council, Finance Committee, and Advancement Council.
Writes and ensures the success of the Center's Advancement Plan and any/all Capital Campaigns. Personally makes 12 significant (5K and up) solicitations annually.
Operations (15)
Manages the Facilities Manager, Office Manager, and Finance Director.
In collaboration with the Director of the Center, develops a long-term vision for the growth and success of the mission and facilities of the Center. Prepares the Annual Budget and manages all expenses relative to the budget. Implements best practices and continually improves St. Lawrence's processes and efficiencies.
Staff Collaboration and Communication (5)
Attend and participate in weekly 60 minute Leadership Team meetings.
Keep an active, listening relationship with all staff so as to serve their needs. Weekly 30 minute meeting with the Director. Attends all staff meetings and days of recollection.

Compensation: Salaried based on experience and performance. Full Archdiocesan Benefit Package Offered. Reasonable Work and Travel Expenses Reimbursed. Spiritual formation reimbursed. An annual raise is considered on June 30th of each year. Continuing Education by request.
