Job Description
Background: CHS is an all-girls Catholic college preparatory high school in Manhattan serving 272 young women, most of whom represent economically disadvantaged populations. Our students come from all five New York City boroughs, as well as Long Island and Westchester, and represent 59 nationalities. The student body is also racially diverse: 60.79% Hispanic, 28.05% Black, 7.2% white, and 3.95% Asian. 75% of our students are first or second-generation Americans. 50% of our students will be the first in their families to graduate from college, and 14% of our students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. 85.2% of Cathedral students are eligible for free or reduced New York City lunch, 47% are from single-parent households, and 34% receive public assistance. All student tuition is partly subsidized, with 86% of students receiving scholarship and financial aid grant awards. 75.5% of our students profess the Catholic faith, and 24.5% practice other faiths.Primary Responsibility: The Development Associate will provide administrative and operational support to the Department of Development and Alumnae Relations, including gift entry and processing, solicitation and acknowledgement mailings, database management, revenue reporting, special projects, and event support, as needed. This position reports to the Director of Development and Alumnae Relations.
Responsibilities:
o Maintain and manage the integrity of the donor database (Raiser's Edge) as a reliable resource that informs donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy
o Coordinate and produce all fundraising mailings
o Produce and distribute regular gift and revenue reports and reconcile gift and income records
o Manage the entry process for all gifts, including deposit separation for yearly audit
o Oversee the acknowledgement process for all gifts, ensuring relevant, personalized, timely, error-free communications that inspire donors to feel valued and loyal to CHS
o Serve as organizational point of contact for Raiser's Edge and online research tools
o Conduct accurate and thorough donor research on donor giving, prospect tracking, and other development activities
o Oversee the portfolio management process
o Document and maintain operational procedures for database usage
o Assist the Director and Manager of Development and Alumni Relations on special projects, as needed
o Support the Department in the planning and execution of student and alumnae events
o Coordinate with alumnae, trustees, and families for various events, mailings, and appeals as needed
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
o Personal commitment to the mission of Cathedral High School
o Bachelor's degree with at least 2+ years of professional experience
o Detail-oriented, highly organized, and a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork
o Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM software such as Raiser's Edge
o Prior experience working with large-scale mailings and mail houses desired
o Excellent written and verbal communications skills
o Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze data, and problem solve
o Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a broad range of tasks on a small team
o An understanding of Catholic education and culture
