Job Description
Primary ResponsibilitiesReport to the school office by 7:30 AM and remain on campus until 3:30 PM unless otherwise directed
Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and adapt instruction as needed to meet the needs of diverse learners
Maintain a structured, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment where students feel safe and supported
Supervise students not only in the classroom, but also during lunch, recess, assemblies, and transitions throughout the school day
Manage student behavior in alignment with school policies, modeling and reinforcing Catholic values
Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administration to ensure a smooth continuation of daily routines
Take accurate attendance and submit reports on student progress, participation, or concerns to the Principal or designated staff member
Handle classroom materials responsibly and ensure the room is left neat and organized for the returning teacher
Support students' faith development by encouraging prayer, respect, and positive interactions with peers and staff
Respond calmly and effectively to unexpected situations while maintaining a professional presence at all times
Qualifications
High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred (Education or related field strongly valued)
Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred, but not required
Must provide a pastoral reference to affirm commitment to the values of Catholic education
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment
Flexibility to work with different grade levels and subject areas, often with limited preparation time
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff and administrators
Must be available to work at least three days per week, with openness to last-minute calls for coverage
Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in fast-paced or unexpected situations
Must be at least 21 years of age, able to pass a background check, and complete VIRTUS child protection training
