Seamstress

Job Description

The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration are seeking a Part Time Seamstress to work in the Convent Sewing Room.

Responsibilities
• Meet with individual sisters to understand their unique sewing needs
• Repair clothing and complete minor alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, shortening or lengthening sleeves, replacing snaps or buttons, and repairing tears
• Sew curtains and complete other small sewing projects
• Sew veils, skirts, vests, and jackets
• Meet deadlines and handle multiple projects efficiently

Qualifications
• Proven experience in garment making, tailoring, alterations, or related sewing work; professional experience is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and precision in alterations
• Ability to follow patterns
• Proficiency in operating sewing machines and performing hand-stitching
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Ability to sit (in a chair and on the floor), kneel, and stand for long periods of time
