Job Description

Chesterton Academy of St. Benedict, a classical high school in the Catholic tradition, seeks a passionate and dynamic part-time high school Drama teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Drama is an integral part of the Chesterton Academy curriculum and required for all students during sophomore, junior and senior years. Chesterton Academy insists that the Arts are paramount to the formation of the students and gives them pride of place as fundamental and vital disciplines in its integrated curriculum. Drama takes the written word and brings it to life.

The drama teacher will cast, rehearse, and facilitate production of one dramatic performance each semester (a production for sophomores in the fall and a production for juniors and seniors in the spring). Almost all rehearsals are conducted during scheduled class hours. The drama teacher will instruct students in skills related to acting and support roles (as appropriate to their role in the play) effectively and engagingly, assess student performance through rehearsal participation, dress rehearsals, and final production, and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.

A candidate should possess either a degree in Drama or demonstrate extensive experience in the field. The candidate shall be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.

In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at Chesterton Academies participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and help students grow in holiness. Part-time faculty members are encouraged to participate in the spiritual life of the school.

Time commitment: 2 school days per week, 2-3 class hours per week.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and references to careers@casbcolumbus.org. More information about the school and curriculum can be found on our website at www.chestertonacademystbenedict.org.
